The Arkansas Tennis Association recently announced that The Western Arkansas Tennis Association has been selected as the Tennis Organization of the Year for 2009. Not only did WATA win the award for Arkansas but this Community Tennis Association was also selected as the USTA Southern Section winner of the same award. The award is given “In recognition and appreciation of outstanding efforts in promoting tennis in Arkansas and cooperation with the Arkansas Tennis Association”.
WATA will be recognized at the Arkansas Tennis Association Awards Banquet at the Chenal Country Club
in Little Rock on Friday, January 29, 2010 and will also be recognized at the USTA Southern Annual Meeting in January at the Atlanta Perimeter Marriott Hotel in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, January 16, 2010.

Fort Smith Sports Receive R.O.S.E. Awards
The R.O.S.E. (Recognition of Service Excellence) Awards applaud Fort Smith area citizens and businesses that consistently go above and beyond in their efforts to serve visitors to Fort Smith and enhance the area’s hospitality and tourism industry with their continuing commitment to service excellence, according to the Fort Smith CVB. The awards program is managed by the Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau, and winners were decided by a popular vote hosted by The City Wire.
James Collins was named “The Hometown Hospitality Hero of the Year” for his work with the Fort Smith Juniors Volleyball Club, organizing the annual “Battle at the Fort” Volleyball Tournament. The tournament brought more than 156 teams to the Fort Smith/Van Buren area in February, resulting in an estimated economic impact of more than $2.4 million.
